Don’t be blind to dirty trade – how to stop TTIP and CETA
Leeds Against TTIP 23rd April (Time TBC)
New era trade deals contain toxic legal structures that give multinationals the ability to destroy and block social and environmental standards. These deals are bad news for our democracy, public services, health, environment, labour standards and so much more. This workshop will equip you with the skills to fight back alongside the global movement resisting this 'Corporate Bill of Rights'.
On the 10th of March we will be partying against TTIP.

Edinburgh Students Against TTIP campaign workshop
"Room 2, Chrystal MacMillan Building, University of Edinburgh, 15a George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9LD
Come along to this workshop to learn, discuss and debate how to make Edinburgh University a TTIP-free zone.
Across the UK, students are getting together to campaign against the new wave of mega trade deals, including TTIP, which are set to hand power to big business on a scale not seen before. These trade deals are changing the rules of global governance and threatening the ability of democratically elected governments to take decisions in the public interest. They threaten public services (including higher and further education), hard-won regulations to protect the environment, human rights, public health and workers - and they threaten democracy itself.
But opposition is growing. Join the movement - get active for change.
No need to book - but please help to spread the word by sharing this post!"

Barcelona conference of local authorities against TTIP
Representatives of Students Against TTIP attended a conference hosted by the city council in Barcelona on the 21st and 22nd April. The event brought together progressive local authorities from across Europe, that have declared their opposition to TTIP and other new era trade deals that threaten local democracy, and the well-being of local communities and the environment.
The conference was an incredibly exciting event, with local political representatives and civil society from all over Europe discussing the need not only to say 'no' to these dodgy deals, but to say 'YES' to cooperation, democracy and fair trade that puts people and the environment first.
AND to top it all off, it was followed by a big old public #noTTIP concert in the centre of Barcelona!
Join us at the SOAS steps on the 10th of March and help make the SOAS Student's Union a TTIP-free zone!
** Meet up time outside SOAS: 4:30pm. UGM in the JCR: 5pm **
Since September, SOAS students have campaigned against TTIP and other neoliberal trade treaties that put corporate profit before people and the planet. Now we have the chance to send a firm message to decision-makers and get the SOAS Student's Union to become a pioneer in the student-led movement against TTIP - just like it did with the Palestine movement, cleaners right's and many other issues.
Being a TTIP-free zone means that the Student's Union declares its opposition to TTIP and commits to take action against it. In order to achieve this, we need to pass a motion at the Student's Union's UGM on the 10th. SOAS Against TTIP will present the motion but we need as many people with us as possible to support it!
We also want to make this into a big happening and therefore we are bringing everyone together to make some noise outside SOAS before the UGM - there will be banners, music, drums and much more! If you're not a SOAS student that's not a problem - as long as you oppose TTIP and its neoliberal agenda do come along.
So join us on the 10th of March, and if you can, bring one or a few friends along!
SOAS Students Against TTIP put on a packed out debate, in January. We had Green Party leader Natalie Bennett and War On Want's trade campaigner Mark Dearn repping the anti-TTIP camp.
For the pro camp, we had the Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Warwick and specialist adviser on TTIP to the House of Lords, and Emanuel Adam, Head of Policy and Trade at British American Business.
And it was all chaired by BBC Economics Correspondent Andrew Walker!
Check out the podcast for the full debate - spoiler: the anti-TTIPer's smashed it as always.
Paris Climate Talks
A bunch of us headed down to Paris with a bunch of other young activists for the COP21 Climate Talks. It was an amazing weekend and we were inspired to connect with so many people taking action to tackle climate change across the world.
Our message - TTIP Kills Climate Progress - was clear to see on our larger than life banner. We even performed our anti-TTIP Christmas Carols under the eiffel tower!
Check out this blog for more reflections on our trip.

Students Against TTIP in Scotland
Last weekend Students Against TTIP joined three talks in Scotland to bring our presence to the universities there.
We talked about who are and, how to get involved in the campaign and why a strong student movement is important in the campaign against TTIP!
It was a great weekend and hopefully a student group will come to life in Scotland as well!
Students Against TTIP and Youth Against AIDS
Some of our activists went to Sheffield in October to the Youth Stop AIDS national gathering. We had a workshop on TTIP and how it will affect our health and access to medicines. It was a fun and very interesting weekend!
Day of Action
October 10 was the International Day of Action against TTIP.
Students against TTIP activists created their own theatrical court to expose the undemocratic investor state dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanism that is a part of TTIP. We also handed out No TTIP newspapers and flyers to people at the station.
After the stunt we went to Conway Hall for the no-TTIP rally with several interesting speakers discussing the dangers of TTIP. Two of our own Students Against TTIP`s activists were present on the stage; Ash as a speaker and Sakina as chair!
Check out the pictures from the action and the rally:
